I have been wanting to take photos at the Vineyard Beach ever since we got a Christmas card from my husband’s coworker. Upon seeing the coworker’s family photo with the gorgeous sand, desert plants, and the lake and mountains in the backyard, I demanded that my husband ask his coworker where the photos were taken. (Thanks, babe!) I then added Vineyard Beach to the bottom of my Location Guide where I list the locations I haven’t been to, but want to try. Well, last week I got to go there with Erin Nielson’s family! Yay! And I brought my husband as my assistant because I knew there wouldn’t be a lot of open shade at Vineyard Beach, so I would need someone with a reflector to protect me from the harsh light and lens flare.
It was fun having my husband there because it was like a big reunion! My husband and I went to high school and college with Erin. Erin and I were even roommates for our freshman year at BYU. She now lives in Texas with her husband and baby, so it was fun to be able to catch up (for the first time in 5 years!) and sneak a session in while she was in town. (Psst! Erin is an illustrator! I love how this session turned out so much! The outfits, the desert beach vibes, and the ADORABLE BABY are the best! I love photographing babies, and it cracks me up every time how much they love rocks and leaves and dirt. This baby in particular was eating dirt while I was taking photos of her mom and dad, which caused mom and dad to crack up and give me some amazing laughing photos. Erin and Matt, you guys did a great job during your session! Thank you for letting me be your photographer!
