I have been wanting to take photos at the Vineyard Beach ever since we got a Christmas card from my husband’s coworker. Upon seeing the coworker’s family photo with the gorgeous sand, desert plants, and the lake and mountains in the backyard, I demanded that my husband ask his coworker where the photos were taken. (Thanks, babe!)

The Nelsons did such a great job during their session! They were down to play all of the games, walk on imaginary tightropes, tickle dad, and fake laugh to my hearts’ content. Even the baby was grinning the whole time!

I got to do something exciting last weekend, and that was to take my nephew’s homecoming photos! It was so fun to see all these teens on dates and reminisce about high school dances.

We got to start off the session at a special location; Nora’s front yard. There were so many flowers in bloom that it looked like a magical fairy garden. Nora’s mom even cut some flowers and put them in a pot to fill in the background with *more* flowers.

The day was warm and sunny, the first day that truly felt like summer. I had been anxiously watching the weather all day because my weather app said it was going to be mostly cloudy only for the hour the session was scheduled. But when we were there, there was not a cloud in sight and we got that gorgeous golden glow.

The sounds of children playing echoed over the playground. Dogs and their owners played on the grass. I hadn’t seen the Henries a few minutes earlier, but now looking across the large field I could see a very well dressed family by the pond. I love how easy it is to spot my clients. I […]

It’s always a little stressful going to a new location for the first time – especially with a client in tow – but I am so pleased with how these photos turned out.

The Timpanogos Temple was busy with activity. Outside the temple doors, a family dressed in white met their guests, a young couple was doing their bridal photos, and I saw at least two other 8 year olds having their baptism photos taken. It was a sunny day, with trees and tulips blooming. However, it was also very windy.

I have officially been to this location in 3 different seasons. I’ve been there in summer, fall, and winter. I count this session as winter even though it hasn’t snowed yet. It is really fun to look through these photos that are practically in the same spot as my other sessions, but the colors between the three are so different!

It was my first time coming to this location, and it did not disappoint. The barn was lovely, and the mountain backdrops are always stunning, especially with the light just right. I did not anticipate the amount of people that would be there in mid-November. There were literally photographers lining up behind us (we photographers are very civilized people) and there were dozens of frisbee golfers all over. 

After rescheduling this session multiple times, we finally found a GORGEOUS sunny day.

One of the very many reasons that I love the Style Guide (I send one out to each of my clients) is that it makes my clients very recognizable and easy to find. Aaron and Brenna drove separately to this family session, and Aaron got there a few minutes before the rest of the family. […]

It was really exciting to come into the mountains for a session and just be enveloped in the fall colors. This location had every color to show, and it was so cool to be there.

Before a session, I always get nervous that I’ll have a hard time finding my client, and I’ll have to stand around looking as “photographer-y” as possible. Fortunately, I didn’t have any trouble finding these clients! They were so well dressed, they immediately caught my attention!

I was still blowing up the air bed when Brad and Kristina arrived with their 4 week old baby, Lydia. I always forget how small babies are when they first come out!

I parked among the beach-style homes, feeling like I had been transported to a coastal movie set in the last 5 minutes. One minute, I was driving along a makeshift lane of neon orange construction cones at rush hour (typical Utah), and then the next I was in a seaside town with rollerbladers and joggers going up and down the lake trail.

I am so grateful I got to photograph this extended family session. There were 31 people, and it was so fun to see everyone all together! Extended family sessions of this size can get pretty crazy because of all the different groupings, and the shear amount of kids. But the Rogers family did amazing and everyone was so prepared!

Rain drops splattered on my windshield. Whaaaat? I looked at the sky and saw fluffy white clouds and blue sky interspersed with dark, circular storm clouds – just like the kind that follow Eeyore around. How bizarre!

I was very excited when Marquelle told me she’d like their family pictures taken on the paths next to BYU’s duck pond. I have done one other session there, and it was for my roommate’s mission pictures 8 years ago! How has it already been 8 years?! Well, lucky for me, this roommate encouraged my budding photography hobby and it further paved the way for me making the decision to become a professional photographer.

Postponing – even just a day – made all the difference. There was not a cloud in the sky, it was 10 degrees warmer, and the ground was completely dry despite the inches of snow the previous day. Steven and Makelle’s session was absolutely beautiful. The lighting was beautiful, the views were stunning, and their outfits were perfect. And thanks to a tip from Grandma, I gave the toddler his favorite treat of nuts and beef jerky and he warmed up to me real quick and gave me some amazing smiles.

It’s a good thing I always arrive early to a session, because I had to wait 10 minutes in line to find a parking spot. I don’t know why I keep getting surprised by the large amount of sledders at Tibble Fork Reservoir. The thought of sledding onto a frozen lake makes me a little […]

These aren’t your usual school photos. Or, at least, they don’t look like any of the school photos I’ve ever had! School photos are notoriously bad, and that is in large part due to the short amount of time the photographer gets with each kid. Because, let’s face it, when you’ve got 30 seconds with each kid, you’re not going to get their best, relaxed smile.

In all honesty, though, I have never had an easier time photographing kids. This session was a total dream, and I had the greatest time. And at the end of the session, THEY GAVE ME COOKIES!

I arrived at the parking lot of Dry Canyon Trailhead. It was a perfect day with not a cloud in sight, and car loads of college kids were arriving to hike up the canyon. I’d done a bit of hiking on that trail a few days before while location scouting, and I did not envy them going up the stairs of death. (I had to literally raise my knee up to my chest to scramble up those stairs. So tall, not made for short people.)

With my camera bag, reflector, stool, and snazzy blue homemade mask in hand, I excitedly waited for my niece, Kaylee, to arrive for her senior session at Tibble Fork Reservoir.
